Wondering what the Collectors Edition for Batman: Arkham City will include? I am, and here is some info on it.
First off, for those of you that don’t know, Batman: Arkham City will be coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC this October 18. There will be a standard edition copy for $59.99, and then, there is this really cool Collectors Edition, that I am dying to get for $99.99.
Lets get down to the details of Arkham City’s Collectors Edition.
The Collectors Edition for Batman: Arkham City will include:
- A Custom Batman Statue Produced by Kotobukiya
- Early Access to the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map
- Batman: The Dark Knight Returns skin
- Collectable Art Book
- Batman: Arkham City Album from Water Tower Music including original songs by hit artists, available via digital redemption.
- Bonus DC Universe animated original movie, Batman: Gotham Knight
- Four Collectable Cards
Most “Collectors Editions” aren’t worth their price, they usually come with a hard case and some cheap ass DLC, and that for some companies, is worth calling a “Collectors Edition”, but, this one certainly doesn’t fall under that category.
The best, and the most valuable piece of this collectors edition, is certainly the custom Batman statue. If this Collectors Edition is anything like the DC Universe Online Collectors Edition, then I’m certain there will be value to it in the future. The Batman statue looks to be approximately 12′ to 14′ inches tall.
Let me point out, if this Collectors Edition, is given the same love they gave to the DCUO CE, then we are going to be in luck. The box should be made from plastic, instead of cardboard. This is nice because, it will keep everything inside the box, from getting damaged, or loosing its value over the years.
The most important thing I see towards this Collectors Edition is that, first of all it’s Batman, and secondly, comic book memorabilia like Batman, will always have value through out the years. Lets face it, if a kid growing up in this day and age, and lets say in 50 years, or maybe even 80 years from now, sees that Batman statue, he is going to go nuts for it.
I’m sold, this Collectors Edition, for $99 bucks (DLC, Artbook, Movie, Soundtrack, Collectable Cards and a statue of Batman), is a deal.
You might be wondering what all these different looking Batman’s are all about. Well, they are the different skins for Batman in Arkham City. If you aren’t familiar with all the different Batman models, let me give you a run down.
Batman skins (from left to right):
- Batman Beyond
- The Dark Knight Returns Batman
- Earth One Batman
- 1970’s Batman
- The Animated Series Batman
- Arkham City Batman
Now, I don’t know a way on how to get these skins. There hasn’t been an official statement from Rocksteady Studios, but, they did release this picture showing off different Batman models. Does this mean that we will be able to purchase them as DLC in the future? I say this might be a good possibility. These skins might be offered as pre-order bonuses from different retailers like Best Buy, or GameStop.
I know for sure, the Collectors Edition will include The Dark Knight Returns skin.
After doing some research, it looks like the European GameStop will be offering the Batman Beyond skin (which I really like), as a pre-order bonus. I really, really hope, it’s an American GameStop pre-order offer as well.
Knowing RockSteady Studios, they won’t keep any DLC from reaching fans. I’m assuming at some point, we will see all this content, either as paid DLC, or complementary DLC, or, heck maybe, it can be unlocked through out the game.
Make sure to mark your calenders for October 18, to get your copy of Batman: Arkham City.
