Last night my brother in-law David, dropped by to visit to watch some movies and hang out and I remembered that I had just rented Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters. It just released this June 7th and I noticed that the game offers a co-op campaign. David is a gamer just like myself but he is one of those gamers that won’t touch a game unless it’s an RPG, he’s weird like that.

After watching “The Mechanic” and “Just Go With It” (which are 2 great movies by the way), I suggested to play Green Lantern, but the stuborn man that he is, it took me and hour or so of convicting just to get him to play. The funny part is by the end of the night, David was loving the game.

Green Lantern for me is one of the coolest characters that the DC Universe has. The whole concept of a power ring that lets you create a construct upon your will power is a great concept. That for me is the strongest point that Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters really offers. All the different constructs that I can beat the manhunters with, are a pure delight. We get to choose from a variety of weapons from: a massive hammer, a baseball bat, a gatling gun, mines, missile launcher and even a Mech, just to name a few. The game runs a lot like God of War but without the cinematography and the deep story line.

The whole game has around 5-6 hours of content. The worst parts for us where the flying missions in which we would only be able to shoot a green blast and seeking missiles in order to destroy flying manhunters and other obstacles. There was no variety in those missions, but when we landed and had our hand to hand combat, we felt part of the Corps.

In all, Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters was a fun game (heck it even made David happy), and for all of us that are “trophy hunters”,  this game offers a very easy platinum.

Here is co-op  gameplay of David (Sinestro) and myself (Hal) playing Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters
